BAND
Band instruction is offered during the school year to 4th, 5th and 6th grade students. It is an elective course that meets twice a week - for a 30-minute instrument group lesson during a recess period in the school day, and for 45-minute full band ensemble rehearsal before school.
In the band program, students use all multiple intelligences to:
Master basic instrument playing technique
Demonstrate proficiency in knowledge of music theory fundamentals
Gain experience in solo and ensemble performance
Perform in concerts throughout the school year
Prepare for secondary school performing arts electives
Develop lifelong skills: creative expression, intellectual growth, responsibility, discipline, self-esteem and teamwork Instrument choices include: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn,Trombone, Euphonium, and Percussion (mallet instruments and drums).
The fee for band is $795 per school year, which includes instructional materials, band t-shirt, concert performances, program expenses and teacher salary. (Rental or purchase of instrument is separate.) Registration for band occurs in the fall. (Need based financial assistance is available through the admissions office.)
